Pair of Vintage hallmarked Sterling Silver Candlesticks (4 ¼) 1964

  

These candlesticks are made from sterling silver although the bases and stems have been filled to provide support and stability. The sticks have two knops to the stems and stand on sloped circular bases with reeded detail around the tops. Please see the condition report below.

The sconces are fixed and will accommodate candles measuring up to 2.2cm (0.8) in diameter. The bases are covered in green felt. Both are hallmarked for Birmingham 1964 with the makers mark of Cohen & Charles. Although the sticks are nice and vertical and fully usable, there are some issues to bring to your attention. One stick has clearly had a knock to the top of the sconce which has resulted in two raised creases to the underside and the sconce edge tilting downward to one side.

However, the creases are quite hidden, the slope isnt highly noticeable and the inner reservoir still holds a candle vertically. The same stick has a pea-sized dent, 2 light 5mm long bruises and a dint to the top of the foot and some small dints and dinks around the edge of the foot. The other stick has a very slightly raised crease where the stem meets the base (not very noticeable), 4 very light bruises and a dint to the top of the base.

Around the edge of the base, there is a 2cm long bruise (flattening) and some dints and dinks. The material to the bottom of the bases is sound but very stained with silver polish. Ive tried to show all aspects in the photos below and they are reflected in the asking price for what are still an attractive and functional pair of candlesticks.
