Broadway & Co was founded by William Benjamin Broadway in Birmingham in 1901. The firm quickly established a reputation for good quality workmanship and produced a wide range of silverware for personal and domestic use. The company, now called Broadway Silversmiths, remains under the control of the Broadway family to this day and still uses many of the original dies and tools from the early years of the company. Condition is very good, with just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time.
Please make sure to view all the photographs as these form part of the description. Each candlestick stands 14.2cm / 5.6ins high and is 8.5cm / 3.3ins in diameter across the base. The pair together weigh in at 534g / 18.8oz but this does of course include the weighting material in the base. The hallmarks, on the bottom rims of the bases, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter Y for 1998 and the B & Co makers' mark for Broadway & Co.
