PAIR VTG 1930's Extreme Machine Age Art Deco Cylinder Sconces - RESTORED. This striking pair of sconces dates to the late 1930s and is an excellent example of later American Machine Age design, blending elements of the streamline style which would soon dominate. Unfortunately, as is often the case with vintage lighting, there are no makers marks and and details of provenance have not otherwise been determined. These sconces have been restored and refurbished and. The original milk glass shades were in poor condition and have been replaced with acrylic shades of the exact same size, and treated with a frost coating to imitate milk glass.
Metal components have been professionally plated with triple chrome finish and new finials added. Original bakelite sockets have been replaced with new like kind.
All other wiring has been replaced. Mounting hardware has been provided as shown. NOTE: These sconces utilize standard medium base Edison bulbs. LED bulbs are highly recommended since the shades are acrylic.
Also, upon close inspection the finish of the acrylic shades is slightly textured (see final photo). Approximate dimensions are as follows. Backplate: 3 5/8wide X 6.5high.
