Pair of vintage, late 1980s, modern aluminum bullet shade, 3-dimensional star base Goose Neck Lamps designed by Louis Lara for Dansk Lights. These "Sulu Task Lamps" as described on the Louis Lara Designs website, have cast aluminum bases (with a slight blue-grey cast) and shades, both polished and fitted with what appears to be a polished chrome plated goose neck. The arch-armed star bases measure 8 3/4" (22.1cm) wide by 10" (25.3cm) deep and 3 1/4 (8.2cm) high.
The fully adjustable or bendable goose neck portion of the lamps measures 24 (60.8cm) from the top of the bases to the top of the shades. The shades measure 2 3/4" (6.8cm) in diameter at the base and 6 3/4" (7cm) down to 4 1/4 (10.7cm) so that the shade can direct the light at an angle.
When the lamps are curved, as shown in the second photo - the lamps measure 18 (45.6cm) high overall. Louis Lara, a Florida-based designer of furniture, lighting and accessories, started his design studio in 1986 and has since designed pieces for numerous producers and private clients with some of his designs featured in major motion pictures.
His mark and that of Dansk Lights are embossed on the bottom of the bases, along with the patent pending mark, etc. New felt pads on all 4 feet of each lamp.
Lamps take 12V 20W 2-prong (halogen or LED) bulb and has a black chord with a rotary switch and plug outfitted with a small transformer. These lamps are in functionally excellent condition, but do show some wear: scratches on the bases and on the shades, a small dent near the top of one of the shades - please see photos and enlarge for details. A fabulous pair of lamps that allow for play and character next to a bed, on a desk or by a reading place or two.
