Sterling Silver 835 Belgian / Dutch / French Pheasant Birds Pair Vintage Lovely

  
Pair of beautiful highly detailed solid silver birds which were very popular table decorations in the 1950s. They are a bit of a puzzle as one bears a STERLING mark under its tail and they also have marks indicating 835 (83.5% silver purity) on the feet and some other hallmarks on the side of the tail.

Possibly European in origin, from Belgium, Netherlands or France. CONDITION: the female bird has a shortened tail. It displays nicely but I think there is a piece missing from the end of her tail.

The male bird is in excellent condition. I did not attempt any polishing. SIZE: male: 7.25 (18cm) long x 2 3/8 (6cm) wide.
