Pair of Vintage hallmarked Sterling Silver Candlesticks (27.5cm) 1974

  

Vintage Pair of Sterling Silver Candlesticks. These impressive candlesticks are made from sterling silver but please note that they have been filled to the stems and bases to provide structure and stability. They are of baluster form with reed detail around the sconces, knops and bases. The sconces arent removable and will accommodate candles measuring up to 1.9cm (0.75) in diameter. The bases are covered in green beize.

Both sticks are hallmarked to the bases for Birmingham 1974 with the makers mark of Broadway & Co. These candlesticks are in good condition and both stand nice and vertical. However, after 45 years, there are some things to bring to your attention although they are all fairly minor. To the top of the sconce of one stick, there is an area with 3 pinhead dints with 2 similar ones nearby and a fine 5mm scratch opposite.

The cups of both sconces have some scratching which look as if they were caused by someone trying to get wax out with something sharp. Both sticks have some tiny pinhead dints around the raised edges of the sconces and knops but none are highly visible. The foot of one stick is in very good order with only some small dints and dinks around the outer edge which arent very visible. The top of the foot of the other has 5 small dints, two 1cm long light bruises and a light 1cm long scratch.

Also, it has a number of dints/dings around the outer edge. The material on both bases is secure and sound but has some general whitish staining caused by silver polish. Ive tried to show all aspects in the photos below and the issues are reflected in the asking price for these large and usable candlesticks.
