Beautiful Vintage Pair of Silver Egyptian Zar Armlets or Bracelets

  

This is a fantastic find: an unmatched Pair of Egyptian silver. These bracelets have two rows of filigree circles at the front and overlaid on those are alternating diamond and square elements.

The band is decorated with geometric motifs. There are bell dangles hanging all around the bracelet. These armlets are likely from the late 19th century to early 20th century. Although they are not an exact match, they are extremely similar and differ only slightly in design, dimensions and weight upon closer inspection.

These are rare collector's items used in the zar ceremony. The ceremony was designed to appease a spirit that has taken lodgings within a person with drumming, singing, and dancing. The ceremony had its particular jewelry and these bracelets/armlets are items used. The inner circumference is 32-33cm.

The width without the dangles is 4.25-4.5cm. Weight of each is 247.7 grams and 234.4 grams.
