PAIR VTG 1933 Worlds Fair Art Deco Chrome & Black Saturn Lamps RESTORED. This extraordinary pair of Saturn lamps dates to the mid-1930s, when the Saturn motif was popularized by the 1933-34 Chicago Century of Progress Worlds Fair. These lamps have been restored and refurbished and are in excellent working order. Most all exterior metal components have been professionally re-finished in contrasting triple chrome plate and gloss black powder coat finishes.
The lower hemisphere of each globe is finished in gloss black enamel. Original sockets have been retained, with interior contacts cleaned and polished. All wiring has been refurbished with new reproduction rayon covered cord and appointed with new vintage bakelite style plugs.
These lamps were originally convertible to sconces and so a very small wire way is visible on the bottom chrome disc (refer to close-up photo #8). There is also a slight factory defect on the upper hemisphere of one globe, which I have tried my best to capture in the final photo #9. These lamps accept a standard medium base. Approximate dimensions are as follows. Height to top of shade: 17.Height to top of bulb socket: 13. Shade: 8Bottom X 7Side X 4.5Top. It is unknown whether these lamps were an official Worlds Fair product, however is certainly of that period and genre. General and critical photos have been provided and are a part of the description for this offering. See more vintage lamps from CollectingByDesign. _gsrx_vers_841 GS 7.0.16 (841).
