Vintage Pre-WWII Palmer-Smith Aluminum Pair of Seahorse Candle Holders Made USA

  

Available is this wonderful pair of vintage pre-World War II Palmer-Smith aluminum candle holders. A forked base holds a highly worked seahorse holding the handle holder piece. They measure 6" tall, 5 1/4" long, and 4 wide. Each piece is marked on the base with a wonderful Palmer-Smith logo and the number "476". The logo is a great reminder of American manufacturing and artisanship.

These items are pre-owned and vintage, we have cleaned them with soap and water but have not taken any other steps. They are handcrafted and old--please don't expect them to be perfect. Arthur Palmer was employed at the Wendell August Forge for a number of years before he left to start his own operation. He was extremely adept in noting these trends, yet his products remain almost timeless in design. All Palmer-Smith aluminum ware was made before the outbreak of WWII. As with the entire aluminum giftware industry, the Palmer-Smith forge had to close during the WWII due to the demand for aluminum, and it did not reopen afterwards.
